Diagnose Starting and Charging System

The starting and charging system in your vehicle consists of three main parts, the alternator, battery and starter. When your vehicle's engine will not crank over, it is a good indication that there is a problem with one of these parts. Our technicians will inspect and test these components to determine what your vehicle needs. Our service advisors will work with you to determine the right part at the right price to meet your budget and vehicle use.

Dim headlamps, slow cranking, and a lit battery light or low battery gauge are indicators that you may have charging issues. We can test your alternator to ensure it is performing to specification. In newer vehicles the alternator is controlled by the vehicle's powertrain control module (pcm). This may require additional diagnostic time.

We offer a free battery check. The heat and cold can have an impact on battery performance. You should have the battery checked a minimum of twice a year, especially if it is 2 years or older. If you do need a repalcement battery, we offer quality NAPA batteries. Our service advisor can help determine which battery is right for your car.

You turn the key and nothing happens or you hear a clicking noise. A bad starter can be the cause. Our technicians will inspect and test your starter, wiring and other related components to ensure the problem is corrected. We can install new or remanufactured starters, depending on your needs and budget.

No matter what your charging or starting issue may be, we have the know how to get it fixed right the first time. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us or come by the shop.
